Personalized Care for Your Pets
As an American Animal Hospital Association accredited animal hospital, Wright Veterinary Medical Center can use the latest advances in veterinary technology to assess and treat your pet.
What To Expect on the First Visit
When you bring your pet in for their first wellness exam, our Bethlehem veterinary team will conduct a full physical examination. That means that we check your pet’s eyes, ears, mouth, coat – everything from nose to tail. We’ll listen to their breathing and check their heartbeat, as well as observe your pet’s behavior and weight.
Each exam looks a little different. Your pet’s wellness care will vary depending on their:
- Age
- Breed
- Diet
- Lifestyle
- Preexisting conditions
Any of the above characteristics will guide our Bethlehem veterinary team to create a treatment plan that works best for you and your pet’s specific needs. We prioritize your pet’s long-term health and quality of life.
Vaccinations for Your New Pet
Depending on your pet’s age and other needs, we may recommend vaccines for your pet. Vaccines are an important tool in preventative care. By vaccinating your pet against dangerous and communicable diseases, you are not only ensuring that your pet is protected against these diseases, but you are also helping the community of pets in Bethlehem the Lehigh Valley stay safe and healthy too.
Core vaccines are those which are considered necessary for all pets based on factors such as exposure risk, severity, or if it is transmissible to humans.
Core vaccinations for dogs include:
- Canine parvovirus
- Canine hepatitis
- Distemper
- Rabies
Core vaccinations for cats include:
- Feline calicivirus
- Feline herpes virus type I
- Rabies
- Panleukopenia
Your veterinarian may recommend other vaccinations not listed above. If your pet is very young, they may need to come in more frequently to ensure that they are getting all the care and treatment they need to grow up to be happy and healthy.
