About Our Veterinary Services in Bethlehem
Unleash the Capabilities of Our Advanced Veterinary Practice
Wright Veterinary Medical Center had its humble beginnings in a renovated barn on the family farm of Dr. Clifford Wright, Jr. in Bethlehem. Since then, we have grown to be a full-service veterinary provider with advanced services you won’t find at other local veterinary practices. We have achieved this through our steadfast commitment to the community of Bethlehem and the Lehigh Valley and our constant strides towards improvement. For example, we were one of the first veterinary medical centers in the area to employ and advocate for licensed vet nurses. Having this additional set of knowledge on our team elevates the level of care your pets receive. The benefits have certainly been noticeable and have helped us maintain and satisfy our loyal clientele.
Our philosophy surrounds a Fear-free approach. We do not push our clients, their pets, or their families into any procedures they do not feel comfortable with, and we only recommend procedures that are in the best interest of everyone involved. When you enter our practice, you can expect the service of a hardworking team who is dedicated to find the correct diagnoses and treatments as fast as possible to help your pet feel better. You can trust that we will advocate for you and your pet, providing care when they need it the most. Of all the innovative, future-oriented developments our practice has come to offer, one of the procedures we pride ourselves on the most are our routine surgeries.
About Our Routine Surgeries
For pets who need surgery, the procedure can be life-altering, so it is essential that it is completed with precision and care. Our routine surgeries are performed Monday-Friday, with admission times being the morning of or the evening prior to the procedure. Because we care for your pets’ safety during surgery, our nursing staff will continually monitor your pets’ vital signs throughout the surgical procedure. We also offer laser surgery upon request, as well as an estimate for each surgery.
Patient discharge times are scheduled by our staff for your convenience. This allows our staff to thoroughly review your pets’ take-home instructions or medications. For the health and safety of your pet, we do not provide visiting hours for our isolation ward cases.
About Our Quality Customer Service
When you give us a call or enter our office, you can expect that our client service specialists will be highly trained to assist you with answering any questions you might have. For your convenience, we offer an automated pharmacy line where you can order your pets’ refills. If you have any immediate needs or have a pet with urgent health concerns, please let us know immediately so we can attend to the issue as soon as possible.
About Our Legacy
Clifford F. Wright Jr., VMD
February 19th, 1925 – February 21st, 2007
In Our Hearts Forever
Dr. Wright was raised in Bethlehem and attended Muhlenberg College. He continued his education at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine and became a Veterinary Doctor in Bethlehem Township in 1949. The Wright Veterinary Hospital began in a renovated barn of his parents’ farm on Wimmer Road in Butztown in 1949. Although the original building has been added on to many times, one of the original stone walls of the barn is still visible in the phone room.
The Hospital started out with only 2 employees, Dr. Wright and his wife Louise, who was and still remains a graduate nurse. Louise assisted Dr. Wright for more than 25 years.
The hospital maintains the highest standard of excellence and has achieved the highest ranking with the American Animal Hospital Association. Dr. Clifford Wright was a Chairman of the State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners for more than 18 years.
Dr. Wright once stated: ” I wouldn’t want to be anything else. I have a love for animals. Being a Veterinarian gives me the satisfaction of doing good things for animals. I can always go to bed at night knowing at least that I tried my best.”
Dr. Wright practiced Veterinary Medicine for 58 years and was lovingly called “Chief” by all of the hospital staff. We all know he did his very best for his patients and clients the same, and we will all continue to provide that same personalized quality of care, that makes this hospital what it is today.
